Incoming transfers: Nijel Pack (Kansas State), Norchad Omier (Arkansas State)

After a shocking Elite 8 run and complete turnaround compared to a year prior, Miami, thanks to NIL and a prominent attorney/booster, became a premier destination for a pair of big-name transfers. The first was Nijel Pack, a 6’0 guard that averaged 17.4 ppg and 2.2 apg at Kansas State as a sophomore and made the All-Big 12 team last season.

Pack was in double figures in all but one game, including three with 30+ points. The career-high effort of 32 points against Kansas was one example of his elite scoring ability, even without a superb supporting cast. He was also very efficient, shooting 46% from the field, 44% from three-point range, and 85% from the free throw line. On a bigger stage and on a better team, the new Hurricane could be an All-American.

The other pickup comes in the frontcourt in Omier, a 6’7 big man from Arkansas State who was the Sun Belt Player of the Year this past season. He averaged a team-high 17.9 ppg and 12.2 rpg on 64% shooting, including 35 points and 13 rebounds against Louisiana Monroe in the conference tournament, as well as 23 points and 26 rebounds against that same team earlier in the season.

Omier is a rebounding machine and strong physical player inside and balances out the offense at Miami. He and Pack may end up as the most impactful set of transfer newcomers from this offseason and could keep the team near the top of the ACC.
