Iowa State looking to land a five-star prospect

Head coach T.J. Otzelberger had great success in his first season at Iowa State, going from 2 to 22 total wins and making the Sweet 16 as an 11 seed. A big part of that success was point guard Tyrese Hunter, a four-star freshman and top-100 prospect that certainly outplayed his ranking.

He’s gone to Texas but the Cyclones definitely look like a potential destination for recruits to play from the region. And they already have a commitment from four-star shooting guard Jelani Hamilton in the 2023 class and a few spots available to add.

Right now, the team is squarely focused on Omaha Biliew, a consensus five-star prospect ranked in the top 20 overall. The 6’8 combo forward hails from Missouri and has been offered by Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Iowa State, while the G League has also been in the picture.

His recruitment has been quiet lately but at the moment, it looks as if the “blue bloods” aren’t fully involved for Biliew. That has opened up a major opportunity for both Iowa State and Nebraska for his services and if he doesn’t go to the G League, could end up as a massive gem for one of those teams.

It looks like the Cyclones have a real shot at this five-star prospect and with how much talent the Big 12 is loading, could certainly use Biliew. If he joins them, the Otzelberger era would really get a nice boost.
