We’ve reached the point in the offseason where most of the work has been handled for most Atlantic 10 Basketball teams. Coaching hires, transfer portal additions and subtractions, and guys electing to go pro have all occurred, making some teams better or worse for the foreseeable future.

I’m working on a series of pieces, grading each offseason for teams in a specific conference. The Atlantic 10 is up first and to be clear, I’m judging everything that has happened. So for some programs, things occurred that were out of their control but still may have had a negative effect on them. I’ll try not to judge too harshly for those that simply had “bad luck” throughout the offseason.

Check out what grades I gave for each of them.

Davidson Wildcats – Grade: C-

It was an offseason of losses for the Wildcats but none bigger than the retirement of all-time program wins leader Bob McKillop, who was with them for over 30 years. It’s a huge loss for Davidson, along with All-10 forwards, Luka Brajkovic, and Hyunjung Lee going pro early. They did bring back point guard and leading scorer Foster Loyer for another season but they’ll be fairly young overall in 2022-23.

Davidson did land a pair of solid transfers in 6’10 forward David Skogman from Buffalo and  Connor Kochera from William & Mary. How much they produce will ultimately determine whether they can stay in the mid-tier of the conference. More importantly, how they move forward without Coach McKillop will determine their standing long-term in the league.
