Atlantic 10 Basketball: 2022 offseason grades for each team
Fordham Rams – Grade: C
After an awesome first year with the program, head coach Kyle Neptune is going back to Villanova to replace the retired Hall of Famer Jay Wright. It’s bad luck with the timing considering how well the Rams did last year but Keith Urgo was able to keep leading scoring guard Darius Quisenberry for another year, automatically giving them an All-Atlantic 10 performer to work with.
Fordham also has a couple of key players (Antrell Charlton, Kyle Rose) back as well to give them a really good frontcourt. They didn’t replace star big man Chuba Ohams, which hurts them but Abdou Tsimbila can have a bigger role next season. As bad as things could’ve gone for the Rams, they were able to hold steady overall.
George Mason Patriots – Grade: B
The most important thing that happened for the Patriots was the return of star forward Josh Oduro. He was a pro candidate but is back for one more year, giving Coach English an all-conference frontcourt player to lead the way.
To build around him are a few transfers, including former Virginia Tech center John Ojiako inside, as well as Saquan Singleton (New Mexico), and Victor Bailey (Tennessee). Bailey is a former double-digit scorer when at Oregon and will be a nice part of the backcourt with Davonte Gaines and sharpshooter DeVon Cooper. How effective Bailey plays will determine the team’s ceiling next season.
