10. Michigan State Spartans

2021-22: 70.3 points per game

Gabe Brown (11.6 ppg). Max Christie  (9.3 ppg) and Marcus Bingham (9.3 ppg) were the Spartans’ three top scorers last season, and “were” is the operative word because they are no longer suiting up for Head Coach Tom Izzo.

The Spartans excelled in three-point shooting last season as their 38 percent from beyond the arc was nineteenth best in the nation. The Spartans were barely in the top 280 in attempts, but they made a lot of the ones they did attempt. Brown and Christie also led the team in three-pointers made per game, but their output can be replaced by returning starters Tyson Walker and Joey Hauser. The problem will be who will replace Walker and Hauser as the secondary deep threats.

AJ Hoggard will be a great permanent addition to the starting backcourt and playing alongside Walker will give multiple ball handlers for Jaden Atkins or Malik Hall to set high screens for. Either player is capable of utilizing the screen to penetrate and dish. Joey Hauser will also spend some time up top on the perimeter having the offense run through him.

New starting center and former No. 34 recruit Mady Sissoko will benefit from the high-low play with Hauser. Sissoko will not be creating his own shots and his primary contribution will come on the defensive end as that is where his true value lays. If Sissoko is unable to be effective in the offensive paint, Coach Izzo will opt to put him in the weak corner in order to spread the defense with a 5-out set. Those 5-out sets, however, would culminate last season with baseline penetration and a kick-out to Gabe Brown.
