1. Antoine Davis – Detroit Mercy

While you may disagree based on how Detroit has fared as a team in recent years, no player has had quite the impact on basketball from this state than Davis. The native of Birmingham has played for four seasons under his father for the Titans and the results have spoken for themselves, with Davis already sitting in the top 25 all-time for points scored in a career; and his career isn’t over quite yet.

Simply put, Davis is a scoring machine for the Titans. He’s eclipsed 40 points four times in his career, including a 42-point effort in his fourth career game. Davis put up 46 points in a first-round win over Robert Morris in the 2021 Horizon League Tournament, one of three career games where he’s hit ten 3-pointers. Each of his first four seasons has seen him average at least 23 points per game, while his assists number isn’t too shabby either.

Davis is a four-time member of the All-Horizon League First Team and finally won Horizon League Player of the Year this past season. He’s led the conference in free throw percentage for three straight years and ranks among the Top 25 in the NCAA in that category as well. Davis has set all kinds of records already, and the extra year from the pandemic means he could cause even more damage to the record books. Already a Horizon League record holder in multiple statistics, we’ll just have to see what else he topples this upcoming season, his final campaign with his father and the Titans.
