NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Alabama of last decade
By Joey Loose
8. Tevin Brown – Murray State, LSU
Brown was a four-year starter and a star at Murray State, playing for the Racers these last four seasons. The guard from Fairhope, Alabama actually played with Ja Morant his freshman season before becoming a higher-impact scorer for his final three campaigns with the Racers. Brown averaged greater than 11 points per game in all his four years of his collegiate career.
Brown had three double-digit scoring games in the NCAA Tournament in his career, including a 19-point effort in the Morant-led upset win over Florida State in 2019. He eclipsed 30 points three times in his career, led by a 33-point effort against Chattanooga this past December. Brown also had five double-doubles in his career, including a 19-point, 10-rebound effort at Auburn during his freshman campaign.
In each of his final three seasons, Brown was First Team in the All-OVC. He currently ranks 17th in career points scored by OVC players and was the conference’s best 3-point shooter multiple times in his career, making 42% of those attempts his sophomore year. He was an important part of Murray State’s final years in the OVC, and now he’s an undrafted free agent, hoping to find some sort of role to play in the NBA in the coming years.
