NCAA Basketball: Top 25 impact freshmen classes for 2022-23 season
12. USC Trojans
The Trojans have had a very nice run of big men lately, including brothers Evan and Isaiah Mobley. With both of them gone, there’s a great chance that the starting frontcourt next season being a pair of freshmen, including another five-star incoming recruit in Vince Iwuchukwu.
The 7’0 center and local prospect have the size and wingspan to be a problem on both ends of the floor. His potential is limitless on offense, capable of scoring around the paint, and has a decent touch. He may not be ready to be an all-conference player on Day 1 like Evan Mobley was but Iwuchukwu will have plenty of minutes out the gate.
While Kijani Wright isn’t as highly-rated as Iwuchukwu on paper, it wouldn’t be a shock if he’s the better freshman between the two. The 6’9 forward is an elite athlete, capable of rebounding at a high clip, and is a solid defender and post scorer. He and Iwuchukwu will be a nice frontcourt duo and could be at USC for multiple years as well.
Tre White flies under the radar in the class, despite being a top-50 prospect himself. The 6’6 wing is a natural scorer and once Drew Peterson leaves can easily be a future breakout star for the team. And three-star shooting Oziyah Sellers is a solid shooter who could find some minutes in the backcourt if Reese Dixon-Waters and Malik Thomas aren’t ready to take the next steps in development.
