NCAA Basketball: Top 25 impact freshmen classes for 2022-23 season
9. Baylor Bears
There are just two incoming freshmen for the Bears but one of them has the potential to be a national star in year 1. The other guy, big man Joshua Ojianwuna, isn’t someone that should be overlooked. He’s a four-star center prospect from Australia and is a big, physical interior presence. Ojianwuna may be the third center on the current roster but could be an impact starter as soon as his sophomore campaign.
But it’s all about Keyonte George, a consensus five-star prospect. The 6’4 shooting guard was known for his elite offensive and scoring talent and can shoot from anywhere on the court. It was expected that he’d be the 6th Man for Baylor this upcoming season, due to the gluttony of guards on the roster.
However, George, through his 30+ point efforts in the team’s recent exhibition games against Italy this offseason, showed that he’s more than ready to be a focal point of the offense. The shooting guard has the potential to be an All-American and Big 12 Player of the Year this season for the Bears and be a future lottery pick for the 2023 NBA Draft.
If George can be a 15+ ppg scorer as a freshman, Baylor could be getting another national championship soon.
