8. Dusty Hannahs – Texas A&M / Arkansas
Today’s fun fact is that Dusty Hannahs was named after Dusty Baker, who was a teammate in the MLB of Hannah’s father. A native of Little Rock, the younger Hannahs focused on basketball, becoming a high-impact scorer and shooter in his early career. He spent two seasons at Texas Tech before transferring to Arkansas for his final seasons, making a significant impact with the Razorbacks.
He arrived at Texas Tech in 2012 and was a decent contributor for the Red Raiders, starting nearly half of their games and averaging 7.3 points per game across the two years. After sitting out a season due to transfer rules at the time, he arrived at Arkansas in 2015 and became a shooting weapon for Mike Anderson. Hannahs led the SEC in free throw percentage both of those seasons, while his 43% clip from 3 was good for second in the conference during his junior season. That season, he averaged 16.5 points per game, including a career-high 33 points in the SEC Tournament against Florida.
Hannahs finished his career making a moderate impact at Texas Tech, but blossoming into a stud shooter with the Razorbacks, still ranking among the school leaders in 3-pointers and free throw shooting. He got a short cup of coffee with the Memphis Grizzlies and has played professionally both at home and overseas, most recently in Australia. Hannahs became a dynamic sharpshooter, but he was more than that with the Razorbacks.
