NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of California of last decade
By Joey Loose
7. Solomon Hill – Arizona
Long passed are the days when Sean Miller arrived with optimism as head coach at Arizona, with Hill becoming one of the first prospects to play for him and the Wildcats. A four-star recruit from Los Angeles, Hill came to Arizona in 2009, quickly becoming a starting forward for a Wildcats team set to make noise in the Pac-10.
Hill’s role increased as the years went along, making a much more significant impact in the back half of his collegiate career. Hill had multiple double-digit performances in the NCAA Tournament his sophomore year and had a 25-point, 12-rebound effort in the Pac-12 Tournament against UCLA his junior year. His senior year not only saw him averaged 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, but he helped lead the Wildcats to the Sweet Sixteen.
It may have come over a decade ago, but Hill’s impact was certain, as he was twice named to the All-Pac-12 First Team. He was a fantastic rebounder and shooter who also had pretty solid assists numbers for a forward, still sitting near the top of the all-time leaderboards in many categories at Arizona. A versatile force, Hill was drafted in the first round by the Indiana Pacers and has enjoyed a nine-year run in the NBA.
