NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Colorado of last decade
By Joey Loose
6. Josh Adams – Wyoming
Adams is a 6’2 guard from Parker who made his way north to play his college ball at Wyoming. One of the best point guard prospects in the state, Adams’ career at Wyoming began in 2012 and lasted for four seasons, with his fourth and final season clearly the highlight for him and the program.
He worked his way into the starting lineup as a freshman and started putting up consistent offensive numbers the following season. He averaged just under 13 points per game in both his sophomore and junior seasons, helping the Cowboys to an MWC Tournament title as a junior and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. While the team wasn’t as great the following season, Adams really blossomed, averaging 24.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, with a slew of 30+ point performances over the season.
For those efforts, he was named MWC Player of the Year by the media as a senior, leading the conference in points and 3-pointers made. He led the Cowboys to their first NCAA Tournament in thirteen years, and continues to sit near the top of many Wyoming leaderboards, including points, assists, and games played. Much of Adams’ post-collegiate career has come overseas, but he’s certainly left an impact on this Wyoming program.
