5. Josh Perkins – Gonzaga

One of the top point guard recruits in the class of 2014, Perkins made his way to Gonzaga, becoming at the time one of the highest-rated prospects to sign with the Bulldogs. A talented passer from Park Hill, Perkins’ freshman year was cut short by a jaw injury, but the four full seasons that followed cemented his place in Gonzaga lore.

Perkins started nearly every game during those four years and was one of Gonzaga’s most indispensable players. He averaged just over 10 points per game across his career and finished it among the top 10 in WCC history in assists. He had a 13-assist game on the road at Creighton as a senior and played in four NCAA Tournaments in his career, including a 13-point effort in the national championship game loss to North Carolina in 2017.

A machine as a distributor and a solid scorer in his own right, Perkins was a valuable part of this Gonzaga program, helping them to the program’s first Final Four and setting up their current success. Perkins still holds the program record for assists and his athleticism was an important weapon for Mark Few and this program for those four seasons. He’s spent the last three years playing professional basketball, most recently suiting up in Puerto Rico.
