NCAA Basketball: Analyzing the 6 options for top-30 wing Andrej Stojaković
Stanford Cardinal
The Cardinal brought back leading scoring forward Harrison Ingram for one more year but he’s most likely gone after next season. Also departing will be Davidson transfer and sharpshooter Michael Jones, as he’ll be a senior. The program already has five-star combo guard Kanaan Carlyle committed in the 2023 class and having Stojaković will only solidify the backcourt for the future.
The academics and prestige of Stanford speak for themselves and Stojaković can stay out west and get a great education, while getting a leading role as a freshman. A concern here is that head coach Jerod Haase isn’t in the safest of seats if the program once again misses out on the NCAA Tournament. However, he very well could be safe no matter what if he lands Stojaković to pair with Carlyle.
UCLA Bruins
The Bruins are going to lose a lot of production from the perimeter after next season, with guards Tyger Campbell and five-star incoming freshman Amari Bailey likely gone, along with David Singleton. They’re hoping to land five-star point guard Isiah Collier in the next class to start things off. With Johnny Juzang already gone and Jaime Jaquez set to leave, that’s a lot of shooting and scoring away from UCLA.
Being close to hope and arguably the biggest name out west is an appealing factor for the Bruins here. And there’s a lot of potential early playing time and national spotlight available as well. If Stojaković wants to play for a “blue blood” while not traveling anywhere, it could be UCLA that wins out.
