NCAA Basketball: Analyzing the 6 options for top-30 wing Andrej Stojaković
Virginia Cavaliers
The ACC program currently has three-star center Blake Buchanan in the 2023 class and likely will add at least one more guard to fill out the roster. Armaan Franklin is entering his senior season while starting point guard Kihei Clark will be gone after his 5th year. It makes sense why the Cavaliers want a sharpshooter, as it was a weakness last season and Stojaković’s size makes him a good option on both ends of the perimeter.
The issue here is that Virginia isn’t without depth on the perimeter, thanks to a talented incoming class. Four-star guards, Ryan Dunn and Isaac McKneely, and top-100 wing Leon Bond will be part of the rotation, while sophomore Taine Murray could be an impact player. While Stojaković has just as much, if not more talent on paper, his playing time isn’t a guarantee early on at UVA.
Texas Longhorns
When it comes to the backcourt for the Longhorns, there’s a chance almost all of them will be gone after next season. Marcus Carr and New Mexico State transfer Sir’Jabari Rice will run out of eligibility, while Tyrese Hunter, and five-star freshmen, Dillon Mitchell and Arterio Morris, could very well go pro if things go well. With no class of 2023 commits, the program is looking for a big splash with someone like Stojaković.
The shooting he brings would be a boost to the offense for Texas and there’s plenty of potential playing time as well. Texas is on the national radar and an annual Big 12 contender and can certainly remain that way if they can land Stojaković in the class.
