Basketball remains one of the most popular sports around the world. You’ll find someone shooting hoops or practicing in some way in most corners of the globe, and this is especially true in every nook and cranny of the United States. Hard work pays off, especially at the highest stage, and we’ve seen firsthand how some of that training and hard work has paid off for these young men on the collegiate stage.

For today, we’re continuing our series that looks at the best college basketball players from each state over the last ten years. Today’s piece is a little different from the others, as we’ll be looking at Washington DC, which is not technically a state. However, the nation’s capital has produced a considerable amount of talent in recent years and isn’t part of any other state, thus it deserves its own piece in this long-running series.

It’s important to note that the players included today are ones whose hometown is Washington DC. Many of the players on this list played at high schools or prep schools outside of DC. Still, the district has produced competitive talent, with a few of these names starring at power conference schools in recent years. We may be confined to just one city, but the name that tops the list makes it worth the effort all by himself.

As one final reminder, these are players whose hometowns are Washington DC, not necessarily those who went to school or were born in there. This also isn’t a list about the best players from colleges in DC; this isn’t a list glorifying Georgetown or George Washington or the two other DC universities. Instead, we’ll be looking at a pretty wide range of players. Let’s get right into that list, having ten pretty decent names to run through today.
