NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Florida of last decade
By Joey Loose
The thrill of playing in the NCAA Tournament is something that many kids dream about, watching their heroes playing on NCAA basketball’s biggest stage. Most of the thousands of high school basketball players won’t get the shot to be in that position, but others may get that opportunity. We’re currently at 363 D1 universities and all of them get that shot at the Big Dance each season.
It’s easy to get caught up in comparisons between high school athletes, and there are a ton of recruiting experts who will give all sorts of appraisals for those kids, but that’s not our focus today. We’re continuing our series that focuses on the best college basketball players from each state over the last ten years. Today, it’s not important how good someone was before college, it’s all about what they accomplished while suiting up for their program.
We’ll be looking at Florida today, focusing on one of the bigger and more prominent states in the country, and one that’s been a decent hotbed of basketball talent. It’s important to note that we’re looking at players from the state of Florida; this isn’t a piece about the best Gators players of the decade, nor even of players from colleges in Florida. There are certainly some names on this list who went to school far from the Sunshine State.
As each article in this series has indicated, we’re talking about players whose hometowns are in the state of Florida. This isn’t necessarily players who were born in Florida, nor ones who went to high school or prep school in the state. If there’s someone you think is missing from the list, they either don’t have a hometown in Florida or they couldn’t quite break onto the list. We’ve got an impressive list of ten college basketball athletes, so let’s starting getting into it.
