NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Florida of last decade
By Joey Loose
4. Fletcher Magee – Wofford
There’s a lot to like about what Magee accomplished at the college level, even if he never played for a prominent or power conference team. A 6’4 guard out of Orlando, he wasn’t wooed by the big schools, instead opting to play under Mike Young at Wofford, arriving in 2015 and leaving in 2019 as one of the program’s very best players.
A starter for most of his career, Magee put up a ton of points across his four seasons with the Terriers. For his career, he shot over 90% from the free throw stripe, was above 40% from long range in each of his four seasons, and averaged 22.1 and 20.3 points per game in his final two seasons respectively. Magee had a 45-point effort against Chattanooga in which he hit eleven 3-pointers, while also scoring 24 points in an NCAA Tournament win over Seton Hall in 2019.
Magee was the Southern Conference Player of the Year in each of his final two seasons and helped put Wofford back on the map, securing the first Top 25 ranking in program history that season. He led the conference in points, free throw percentage, and 3-point shooting multiple times, while also leading the entire nation in made 3-pointers, both in his final two seasons and for an entire career. Magee clearly left behind an immense legacy as a talented shooter and scorer, a legacy he continues to build on with his professional career overseas.
