No American sport has a postseason format as thrilling or exciting as the NCAA Tournament. Every team has a chance to have a moment in the sun. Thousands beyond thousands watch every year, with young basketball players dreaming of their chance to perform on the biggest stage in NCAA Basketball. If there’s anything we’ve learned, especially in recent years, every single athlete and every single team has that chance to make magic in March.

But before any of those athletes are starring in the Big Dance, they’re all at the high school level, hoping and praying for their opportunity to shine. Today, we’ll be continuing our long-running series that focuses on the best college basketball player from each state. We aren’t at all looking at what these athletes accomplished as high school players, though it’s certain that most of the athletes on today’s list starred in the state of Georgia.

It may not seem like it, but the state of Georgia has actually produced a tremendous amount of basketball talent, especially from in and around Atlanta. There are ten prominent names on today’s list as we look back at the last decade of productivity. There are also dozens of very good basketball players that didn’t quite make it onto today’s list; only the best will be mentioned today.

Remember that this piece is about college basketball players from just the state of Georgia. What this specifically means for this article’s purposes is players whose hometowns are in Georgia, not necessarily where they were born or where one of their high schools was located. There is no question about which players belong to which state. This also isn’t about the best players who went to college in Georgia, though we will see a couple of those Bulldogs today. Anyways, let’s dive right into the ten best college basketball players from Georgia of the last decade.
