6. Collin Sexton – Alabama
Continuing on, this 6’3 guard certainly adhered himself to the people of Alabama when he starred for the Crimson Tide over four seasons ago. Sexton was another five-star prospect who chose to play for Avery Johnson at Alabama. Again, he spent just a single season with the Crimson Tide, declaring for the NBA Draft after his freshman season, but he made that year count.
Sexton averaged 19.2 points per game and was by far the best player on this Alabama squad. He scored at least 20 points in his first three games and had a legendary 40-point effort in a game against Minnesota in which his Tide was playing 3-on-5 for part of the second half. Sexton continued to contribute at a high level and later put up 25 points in an NCAA Tournament win over Virginia Tech in the program’s first Big Dance in six years.
Sexton was the SEC’s Rookie of the Year and was honored as an All-SEC First Teamer. He was second in the conference in points and was one of the nation’s most utilized players, playing a starring in role in producing offense for the Crimson Tide. He was soon after a lottery pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers and has spent the last four seasons starring in the NBA, though his most recent season was limited by a knee injury.
