NCAA Basketball: 5 best players from state of Hawaii of last decade
By Joey Loose
2. Jamaure Gregg – Northwestern State
Next, we focus our energies on the 6’7 forward from Oahu, yet another transplant who was born out in Hawaii but grew up mostly in Texas. Gregg certainly was a talented basketball player, spending the beginning of his collegiate career in a starring role at Cochise College in Arizona. Gregg spent his last two seasons of eligibility at Northwestern State and was an important piece of the rotation in both years.
His junior season saw him contribute, mostly off the bench, and secure his first double-double late in the year with a 15-point, 10-rebound effort against New Orleans. That final collegiate year was his finest effort, averaging 10.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, starting nearly every game for the Demons. He had a career-high 21 points in a game against Louisiana Tech and had a pair of solid performances in the 2021 Southland Tournament.
Gregg put up decent rebounding numbers and was certainly vital to the Demons’ frontcourt for those final two seasons. He featured prominently in those two D1 seasons and made an impact on this program. He’s most recently been playing overseas in Estonia and likely has a few more years of basketball left in him.
