NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Idaho of last decade

1. Trevon Allen – Idaho
Finally, we look closely into Allen, a 6’2 guard from Lapwai who didn’t have to travel far to continue his collegiate career. Arriving at the school in 2016, he spent the next four seasons at Idaho playing for the Vandals up until the national pandemic at the end of his career. While he had meager contributions at the beginning of his career, he was a player in the Big Sky by senior year.
Allen started a handful of games as a freshman, but was a bench player his sophomore year, with mostly unimpressive states both years. He surpassed 14 points a game as a junior, but it was senior year where he really broke out. As a senior, he averaged 21.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, with a career-high 36 points against Montana that February. He really saved the best for last, surpassing 30 points in each of his final three collegiate games, including a 35-point performance in a Big Sky Tournament loss.
Unfortunately, the Vandals struggled as a program late in his career, which is probably why he was only named to the All-Big Sky Second Team for that stout season. He led the entire conference in points, finishing among the top 25 in the entire nation, emerging as one of the most utilized players in the Big Sky. He’s spent the last two years playing basketball overseas and likely has a few more solid years left in him.
