NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Idaho of last decade
By Joey Loose
8. Connor Harding – BYU / Utah Valley
A 6’6 guard from Pocatello, Harding was one of Idaho’s best players during his high school career and found himself at BYU to begin his collegiate career. After three seasons of up and down contributions, Harding transferred to Utah Valley for his senior season, spending this most recent college basketball season with the Wolverines.
At BYU, Harding wasn’t a star, but he was a solid piece for the Cougars across three seasons, playing under both Dave Rose and Mark Pope. He had a 12-point performance in a WCC Tournament loss as a freshman and later scored 17 points in a win over Utah as a junior. At Utah Valley, he was a full-time starter and averaged 10.4 points and 2.8 assists per game. He scored a career-high 18 points in an early season win over Pepperdine and was the third-leading scorer on a Wolverines squad that won 20 games on the season.
Harding was a solid contributor at BYU and an important piece in that last season at Utah Valley. He wasn’t someone flashy or a household name, but he’s been a consistent piece on multiple squads, with decent shooting numbers in the opportunities he was given. Harding should return for the COVID bonus year with the Wolverines and will likely be just as impactful in his final collegiate season.
