Alabama Basketball: Brandon Miller showing out on International trip in Europe
Alabama Basketball is on an international trip to Spain, and France, and one major takeaway from the trip so far, has been the impressive play of Brandon Miller.
In 2021-22, Alabama Basketball looked strong at times, and weak at others, and their season ended with a loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Notre Dame after a loss to Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament as well.
In the Class of 2022, the Crimson Tide brought in the third-ranked recruiting class in the nation with two five-stars, two four-stars, and a three star. The Crimson Tide’s recruiting class was highlighted by the sixth-ranked small forward in the class, Brandon Miller.
In Alabama’s two games since getting to Europe, Miller has been the best player on the court. In the Tide’s first game against the Spain Select Team, Miller led the Tide to a dominant 108-64 win behind his 19 points, and six rebounds.
Then in their second game against the Lithuania “B” Team, Miller did it again leading Alabama to a 120-61 win with 28 points. Miller is a 6’9″ 200-pound small forward who is a very complete player with the ability to shoot and get to the rim, making him a tough player to defend.
If the Europe trip is any indication of what’s to come for the Crimson Tide in 2022-23, they have a freshman who can lead a team and be the player they were missing in 2021-22.
Alabama lacked several things last season, a big one being the fact that they didn’t have a player with the capability of taking over when they were struggling, and just doing it himself, and leading the Crimson Tide to a victory. Granted, the two Alabama games during their European trip were against the Spain Select Team and the Lithuania “B” Team, but the fact remains, Brandon Miller has been impressive.
The Crimson Tide’s game against the Chinese National Team on Friday will be a better test of where their team is at as a whole, and how good Brandon Miller is. However, what he has shown in their first two games during their trip to Europe, is certainly something that should excite Tide fans.
