NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Iowa of last decade
By Joey Loose
10. Jordan Bohannon – Iowa
This article is about the state, not the Hawkeyes program, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be well represented. Bohannon is a pretty accurate representative of the Hawkeyes, spending the last six seasons on the Iowa squad. A 6’1 guard originally from Marion, he missed most of his fourth season due to injury and took advantage of the extra COVID year, running his total years playing basketball so high.
Bohannon was one of the best shooters in the game throughout his career, averaging double-digit points in nearly every collegiate season, while hitting more than 41% of his 3-pointers in his first two campaigns. He had a pair of 30-point games in his career, including a win at Maryland where he hit 10 3-pointers this past February. His first couple of seasons also saw impressive assist numbers, with multiple double-doubles during Iowa’s NIT run in 2017.
Bohannon is the all-time leading 3-point field goal shooter in Big Ten history and clearly made an impact at Iowa. He was a conference All-Freshman and was once on the All-Big Ten team. Due to playing parts of six seasons, he’s also the all-time NCAA leader in games played, starting 169 of the 179 games in his career. The entire time he was a great shooter and had an important presence at Iowa, playing alongside stars like Luka Garza and Keegan Murray.
