8. Douglas Wilson – South Dakota State

This 6’7 forward from Des Moines certainly found his place to shine at the collegiate level. Wilson arrived on campus at South Dakota State in 2019 after a two-year junior college stint at Kirkwood CC. He spent the last three seasons developing into one of the best frontcourt members in the Summit League, making an impressive impact for some talented Jackrabbits teams.

Wilson’s first season was monumental, averaging 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game as a Summit League newcomer. He had a 26-point, 13-rebound effort in his third D1 game, regularly putting up impressive performances, especially in league play. He missed part of his second year with the Jackrabbits, but used the extra COVID year effectively, helping lead the program to the NCAA Tournament this past March. Wilson had at least 21 points in all three Summit League Tournament games.

Wilson was named Summit League Player of the Year as a junior, was twice on the All-Summit First Team, was named the Tournament MVP during that final season, and was also on the conference’s All-Defense team. He led the conference in field goal percentage twice and ranks among the conference’s career leaders in points and rebounds despite playing just three seasons. This efficient, talented interior player likely has a few years ahead of him overseas.
