NCAA Basketball: Predicting top performer from each top-25 2022 recruiting class
By Matt Melton
15. Tyrell Ward – LSU Tigers
A four-star wing out of DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, Ward is likely the name from LSU’s 2022 class that will see the most minutes this season. While 6-foot-10 forward Jalen Reed will likely see a notable amount of time as well, Ward could play a significant role for the Tigers this season, potentially as a starter.
14. Elijah Fisher – Texas Tech Red Raiders
Reclassifying from the 2023 class, Fisher comes to Texas Tech as one of the highest-rated recruits to ever commit to the Red Raiders. The four-star wing out of Canada simply has all the tools needed to be an impact player for the Red Raiders from day one, likely coming in a bench role to begin his time in Lubbock.
13. Isaac Traudt – Virginia Cavaliers
The Cavaliers have a few names to choose from here such as guards Isaac McKneely and Leon Bond, but Traudt might be the name to watch for. A four-star out of Grand Island Senior School in Nebraska, the 6-foot-10 forward will likely be a key piece in Virginia’s frontcourt rotation.
12. Amari Bailey – UCLA Bruins
While fellow five-star Adem Bona will also play a significant role, the choice of Bailey here is an easy one. The in-state combo guard out of Sierra Canyon High School should be among, if not, the preseason favorites for the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, and will certainly shine in a talented Bruins backcourt as a freshman.
11. Jett Howard – Michigan Wolverines
Tarris Reed, a 6-foot-10 center, is also a name to know in Michigan’s 2022 class, but the four-star’s potential role in 2022-23 could be a bit of a question mark due to the returning Hunter Dickinson. Howard, a four-star prospect out of IMG Academy in Florida, on the other hand could be a day one starter for the Wolverines, as well as a potential Big Ten Freshman of the Year candidate.
