The clock hits zero, streamers fall from the ceiling, the nets are cut down, and a new NCAA Basketball national champion is born. This is the experience and result of each year’s March Madness, with a new crew of young men becoming champions forever. This is the dream that every basketball-loving child in this country has, watching these games on their televisions and hoping to one day have that opportunity.

In the state of Kentucky, people have seen these moments on both sides, with Louisville and Kentucky both winning national championship just about a decade ago. We mention Kentucky specifically because today we’re continuing our long-running state series where we look at the best college basketball players that came from each state. Obviously, today’s focus is on the Bluegrass State.

While Illinois and Indiana to the north have produced much more high school talent, there’s still been a steady plethora coming from Kentucky. This article will focus on a few of those names, with some of them really making their mark in recent years on the college game. Remember, this is not a piece about players who went to college in Kentucky, though it’s certainly true that the colleges from Kentucky will be well represented in today’s list.

Instead, we’re looking at the players whose hometowns are listed as being in Kentucky, not necessarily those who were born or attended high school or prep school in the state. Kentucky isn’t regularly producing blue chip prospects or setting the game on fire, but there were certainly a great list of college players to choose from; these are the ten that we’ll focus on today.
