NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Kentucky of last decade

3. Kelan Martin – Butler
This 6’6 forward from Louisville came along too late to be part of those runs to the national title game, but still made his mark across a four-year career at Butler. He arrived on campus right around the time Chris Holtmann became head coach, helping charge some energy back into this program. In all, Martin was a phenomenal piece in Butler’s early years in the Big East.
Martin was a contributor as a freshman, but really came into his own in the following years, averaging 15.7 points and 6.8 rebounds as a sophomore, with his numbers even more impressive going forward. He helped lead the Bulldogs not only to the NCAA Tournament, but to a Tourney win in all four seasons. As a senior, he not only averaged 21.2 points per game, but he scored 27 and 29 points respectively in Tournament games against Arkansas and Purdue to end his career
A real impact player for the Bulldogs, Martin was All-Big East three times, appearing twice on the Second Team and on the First Team as a senior. He finished 14th in the nation in points scored as a senior, while racking up a ton of 3-point field goals during that final year. Martin’s pro basketball career has been quite the ride these last four seasons, though he has spent time in the NBA with a pair of teams.
