17. Alabama Crimson Tide

Strength: Brandon Miller

The five-star freshman wing was a standout in the Tide’s recent exhibition tour, averaging around 20 ppg to lead the team. Miller is a 6’8 combo forward that can score in a variety of ways, looks ready to take over the frontcourt, alongside sophomore center Charles Bediako, who should take his own step in development.

Miller being ready to produce on Day 1 is big for a program that will be looking for pecking order and with multiple incoming transfers, any of them could be that guy. But if Italy was anything of a preview, Miller could very well be that guy.

Weakness: Figuring out the backcourt hierarchy

Last season, the chemistry among the guards seemed to be what made them be so “up and down”.  Jahvon Quinerly is the one guard back from the group, although he’s still recovering from an injury. Joining him is 20 ppg scoring transfer Mark Sears from Ohio, sharpshooter Dominick Welch from St. Bonaventure, and five-star freshman Jaden Bradley.

While Welch will be more of a shooter in the group, both Sears and Bradley are guys that need the ball in their hands, as well as Quinerly. Figuring out who the lead guard is in the group, or simply having a cohesive backcourt is most important to figure out.
