10. Purdue Boilermakers

There’s no question that junior center Zach Edey will be the focal point of the Boilermaker offense this upcoming season, especially now that Trevon Williams is gone. But how much will the 7’4 big man play? Edey averaged 14.4 ppg and 7.7 rpg in just 19 mpg, which per 40 minutes goes to a whopping 30.3 ppg and 16.2 rpg.

Edey is a dominant offensive player and nearly unstoppable once he gets the ball in the post. Assuming his minutes goes towards 25-30, he could easily average over 20 ppg and make an All-American case. His defense is a little in question and he’ll get into foul trouble just for being big but Edey will be one of the best bigs in NCAA Basketball.

Likely starting next to Edey in the frontcourt is Mason Gillis. He averaged 6.4 ppg and 4.8 rpg last season but shot 41% from three-point range in limited attempts. Considering that whoever was at center always got the ball for Purdue last season, look for the 6’6 forward to have a bigger role going forward. Same for Caleb Furst, a former four-star prospect that started 12 games as a freshman last season.

Trey Kaufman-Renn is another former top-60 prospect that’ll be competing for playing time and Edey’s backup at center is William Berg, a 7’2 big man, and four-star recruit that’ll be groomed to be the next great Purdue big. Look for him to have an impact off the bench at the five-spot.
