NCAA Basketball: Top 25 team frontcourts for 2022-23 season
9. Alabama Crimson Tide
One of the biggest standouts of the preseason exhibition tours has been Brandon Miller, a 6’9 combo forward for the Crimson Tide He’s not only been playing well but he’s been leading the team in scoring at over 25 ppg. Of course, it doesn’t guarantee that the five-star freshman prospect will be a star once the games count but it’s a sign that Miller is ready to contribute early on.
Miller was always known as an offensive talent, capable of scoring in many ways. He’s a very good shooter and driver to the basket and creates his own offense. He’s going to be a nice freshman player that averages over double-digits on an offensive system that should serve him well.
The key will be the breakout potential from sophomore center Charles Bediako. The 7’0 big man averaged 6.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, and 1.5 bpg as a freshman and dealt with plenty of ups and downs as a still raw prospect. He had his moments, including six blocks in games against Gonzaga and Mississippi State, and seven games of double-digit scoring. Bediako is a former five-star recruit and we’ve seen guys like him have big second years. He’s already a good defender but an improved offensive game can take Alabama to the next level.
The Crimson Tide also has one of the top Junior College transfers in Nick Pringle, as well as returning forward Noah Gurley. And while he isn’t at the level of Miller, four-star freshman Noah Clowney adds to the depth of the frontcourt. There’s a lot to like about this group, especially if Miller leads the way.
