6. Michigan Wolverines

One of the best returning players in NCAA Basketball is Hunter Dickinson, who led Michigan with 18.6 ppg and 8.6 rpg last season on 56% shooting from the field. While the team was underachieving during the regular season, Dickinson, not only kept them in contention but led the way to get some needed wins.

Some of the big man’s best performances included 23 points and 14 points against San Diego State’s elite defense, 33 points in a win over rival Michigan State, and 27 points and 11 rebounds in the upset win over Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan did lose former five-star prospects, Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate in the frontcourt but did add multiple key pieces this offseason to reload. One came from the transfer portal in Joey Baker, a 6’7 sharpshooter from Duke who’s capable of making 3+ three-pointers in a game. They also added four-star international power forward Youssef Khayat, who could have an impact as early as this season.

Tarris Reed, Jr. will be Dickinson’s backup at center and he’s no slouch as a top-40 incoming freshman player. And Jett Howard, a 6’7 forward and son of head coach Juwan Howard, could easily start at the three-spot. If either sophomore Terrance Williams or Will Tschetter has a breakout campaign to lock down the power forward position, Michigan will be in good shape in the frontcourt. But with one of the best security blankets in NCAA Basketball already there in Dickinson, they’re already fine.
