18. UConn Huskies

One of the best big men in NCAA Basketball that flies under the radar is Adama Sanogo, who had a sophomore breakout campaign last season to lead the Huskies with 14.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg and nearly two blocks a game. Some of Sanogo’s big games include a career-high 30 points in the overtime win over Auburn, 20 and 16 versus Seton Hall, and three straight games of at least 15 rebounds.

Sanogo can be somewhat inconsistent in his scoring production, which is what keeps him in the second tier of top NCAA Basketball centers. But him being around makes UConn an instant NCAA Tournament contender and he’ll be the focal point of the team this upcoming season.

The issue with the Huskies is the apparent lack of depth. The next best frontcourt player on the roster is Donovan Clingan, a top-50 incoming freshman big man. The 7’0 center could easily be the next great UConn big but his minutes will be limited behind Sanogo. But opposing frontcourts won’t get much of a breather even when the starting center goes to the bench.

Three other forwards on the roster include Samson Johnson, Richie Springs, and Alex Karaban, none of who has played much but likely will have a larger role this season. If that doesn’t happen, look for more four-guard lineups from UConn besides Sanogo.
