The first thing to note about the nature of this piece is that there is an unusually talented group of transfers set to join Atlantic 10 Basketball this year (though probably the new norm moving forward in the portal era), so a lot of guys that might have made it other years fell short this time around. Those that did make it are not listed in order, they were just the five that I believe will have the biggest impacts on their respective teams.

Certain A-10 teams, like VCU, have many good transfers, so many that they overshadow one another to a point where it’s difficult to single out any given one as the biggest potential difference-maker. I tried to place emphasis on things like talent (obviously), experience, and available opportunities, though it’s important to note that it’s difficult this far away from the season to predict the rotations of each team, so the “available opportunities” aspect is largely my own conjecture.

I feel it’s worth including an “honorable mention” section because of how tough of a top 5 this was to crack, so without further ado, here are those that almost made the list and are liable to make me regret my decisions in a few months time.

Honorable Mentions

  • Javon Pickett (SLU)
  • Brandon Johns (VCU)
  • Philip Alston (Loyola)
  • Matt Cross (UMass)
  • Jason Roche (Richmond)
  • Anthony Harris (Rhode Island)
  • Moses Flowers (Saint Bonaventure)
  • Daryl Banks III (Saint Bonaventure)
  • Fousseyni and Hassan Drame (La Salle)
