Reid Ducharme is a four-star prospect in the 2023 class and now he’s joining Xavier Basketball for the future. What kind of impact will he have?

The latest class of 2023 prospect to make a decision was Reid Ducharme, a 6’4 shooting guard/small forward from Boston Massachusetts that plays at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. Although he has a small frame, Ducharme is a quality scorer and elite shooter, capable of having a big impact offensively.

Ducharme’s recruitment was fairly simple overall, with three main programs involved with him. Syracuse, who has a history of potent offensive guards, Penn State, who recently landed four-star forward Carey Booth, and Xavier Basketball, who has a new head coach in Sean Miller.

In the end, the top 100 prospect elected to join the new coach and the Musketeers.

Ducharme is the second commitment for the Musketeers in the 2023 class, joining four-star point guard Trey Green. It’s part of the looming turnover of the backcourt for the Big East program, with multiple senior guards (Souley Boum, Adam Kunkel, Kyky Tandy) likely departing in the offseason, as well as Colby Jones, who is a pro candidate as well.

Xavier has a pair of incoming four-star freshman guards in Desmond Claude and Kam Craft. Both are 6’5 and 6’6 players capable of playing on the wing, a wide-open position outside of Jones since starter Jerome Hunter is entering his senior season as well.

Coach Miller is looking to build the Musketeers similar to the way of his time at Arizona, filled with athletes and playmakers that fill specific roles. Ducharme will be the shooter of the group that’ll be part of the rotation and could very well become a starter not before long.

With both Zach Freemantle and Jack Nunge entering their senior seasons, look for Xavier Basketball to look for at least one big man in the 2023 class. Which one they get remains a question but the backcourt for the future is starting to round out nicely for the program.
