6. Kansas Jayhawks – Jalen Wilson

In a rare occurrence, there are some questions about where the offense will come from next season. Kansas has some talented defenders and incoming freshmen but the one returning veteran that’ll have to have a big year is Wilson. The senior forward has averaged 11.5 ppg and 7.6 rpg in the past two years and has shown flashes of being a leading scorer but dealt with being in the doghouse last season after an offseason DUI arrest.

While the impact of incoming transfer Kevin McCullar will be a major storyline, his own scoring potential is limited. The guy on the roster that’s capable of going for 20 points on a given night is Wilson and the Jayhawks will have to have that from him sometimes.

5. Creighton Bluejays – Trey Alexander

The Bluejays had a history 2021 recruiting class, with three of them having big roles on the NCAA Tournament team last season. Two of them are consensus national breakout candidates in point guard Ryan Nembhard and forward Arthur Kaluma but the other that’s flying under the radar is Alexander. He came off the bench mostly last season, averaging 7.3 ppg and 2.8 apg.

The sophomore shooting guard scored at least eight points in the final 10 games, including a season-high 18 points in the NCAA Tournament against San Diego State. He’s likely to be a full-time starter and if becomes a double-digit scorer consistently, that only makes Creighton all the more of a threat.
