22. UConn Huskies – Tristen Newton

The Huskies brought in four perimeter transfers this offseason, with the biggest name being Newton from East Carolina. The 6’5 guard had a breakout junior campaign last season, averaging 17.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 5.0 apg to lead the Pirates and was an All-AAC player. Considering that another ECU star (Jayden Gardner) showed that he wasn’t putting up empty stats when he became Virginia’s best player last season, there’s a good chance that Newton can do something similar at UConn.

He’ll be the starting point guard and have to have good chemistry with the other transfer guards such as Nahiem Alleyne and Hassan Diarra. Newton will have star center Adama Sanogo to work off of but how good he himself is could determine the ceiling for the Huskies in what will be an important year for the program.

21. Oregon Ducks – Quincy Guerrier

The former Syracuse forward and All-ACC performer was one of the most disappointing transfers last season, averaging just 10.1 ppg and 5.3 rpg on inefficient numbers. But he’s going to have the chance to redeem himself, as Oregon didn’t land any forwards this offseason, and Guerrier is the only one that can truly play power forward on the roster unless incoming five-star freshman  Kel’el Ware can slide over and play next to center N’Faly Dante.

With Will Richardson back running the offense, the backcourt should be fine. And the combo of Ware and Dante should be good inside. But the forward position is essentially Guerrier and he’s going to have to play much better next season in order for them to make it back to the NCAA Tournament.
