8. Clifford Omoruyi – Rutgers Scarlet Knights

2021-22 stats: 11.9 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.3 bpg

After Myles Johnson departed to allow Omoruyi to be the new starting center, the former top-50 recruit had a very good season. He had just five double-doubles but many more games with 10+ rebounds, along with nine games with 15+ points. The stretch of the final 10 games showed that he can also be counted on offensively to provide scoring as well.

Omoruyi is more of a defensive and rebounding type of center than a proven scorer but if his offensive game continues to develop, can crack that top group of big men in the league. And with forward Ron Harper Jr. now gone, he certainly will be given more opportunities to produce inside.

7. Paul Mulcahy – Rutgers Scarlet Knights

2021-22 stats: 9.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.3 apg

Despite being the 4th-most important player on the roster last season, Mulcahy still managed to be a stat-stuffer as the team’s point guard. His scoring production was up and down outside of a stretch of six games of 12+ points, including a career-high 31 points and seven assists in an overtime matchup with Northwestern. He followed that up with 15 points and 12 assists versus Northwestern.

With Rutgers’ two leading scorers gone, look for Mulcahy to take more shots, while still being the same quality passer and rebounder. He’s an underrated player with the chance to break out statically and go from role player to star of the team.
