2. Trayce Jackson-Davis – Indiana Hoosiers

2021-22 stats: 18.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.3 bpg

The 6’9 forward actually had better scoring and rebounding numbers as a sophomore but there’s no question that Jackson-Davis became a better player overall. First, his efficiency jumped from 52 to 59% from the field, while also having a much bigger impact defensively. That includes eight games of at least four blocks.

But Jackson-Davis is best known for his scoring outputs, including 31 points and 10 rebounds against Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament, 30 points, eight rebounds, and six assists versus Wisconsin, and a career-high 43 points versus Marshall. He’s one of the best offensive players in college basketball and now is an All-Big Ten defender as well. Jackson-Davis has a case of being No. 1 depending on the judge thanks to his two-way play.

1. Hunter Dickinson – Michigan Wolverines

2021-22 stats: 18.6 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.3 apg

Ever since Dickinson joined Michigan, he was one of the best frontcourt players in the country. His sophomore season went as expected, scoring 25+ points on eight different occasions, including 33 points versus rival Michigan State. His stretch in the middle of the season with five games of 25+ out of seven, along with averaging 21 ppg and 11 rpg in the Sweet 16 run of the NCAA Tournament this past season.

Dickinson is as consistent as it comes offensive and offers more versatility than Jackson-Davis, shooting 33% from three-point range on 64 attempts. He has 49 blocks as well so the Wolverine big isn’t a slouch defensively. His two Sweet 16 appearances and performances in March are what give him the slight edge over Jackson-Davis here but it’s close and Edey will be a factor too for the No. 1 spot.
