The NCAA Basketball Tournament consumes the sports world in the month of March. Brackets are selected, bets are made, and people around the country are thrilled in anticipation. There will be big victories, buzzer beaters, Cinderella runs, and a number of people making their mark on the game. If there’s anything that March Madness has taught us, especially in recent years, it’s that the surprise run or impact performance can come from virtually anyone.

You don’t have to be a blue chip prospect or from a fertile basketball state to make that impact at the Big Dance. Today, we’re continuing our series that looks at the best college basketball players of the last ten years from each state. Since we’re going through all fifty states (plus DC), we’ve seen a wide variety of basketball talent, as the ten best players from a state like California far exceed the talent from a smaller state like Delaware. Our focus again today is one of those states with less talent, but that doesn’t mean today’s names from Montana aren’t talented.

Much of the talent from today’s list didn’t become household names or make incredible impacts on the college game, but all ten played solidly at the D1 level. Despite its size, Montana doesn’t have a ton of people, but has still managed to produce some pretty impressive basketball players, as you’ll see by the end of this list.

Again, it’s important to remember that this is a list about players from Montana, meaning the players whose hometowns are listed as being from the state. This is not a piece about the best high school players from the state; we’re solely looking at their collegiate careers and how things went at the D1 level for them. There’s ten interesting names to get through, so let’s get started with the list; a list that will even feature some players who played collegiately in the state of Montana.
