9. Ryan Edwards – Gonzaga / Portland State

A 7’1 center from Kalispell, Edwards certainly had impressive size. He began his collegiate career at Gonzaga in 2013, but barely played at all across four years, redshirting for one of those season. He got his chance to play as a senior, transferring to Portland State and actually contributing for the Vikings in that final year.

Highlights at Gonzaga were few, though he did have a 10-point performance in a win over San Diego during his redshirt sophomore season. He averaged 9.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game as a full-time starter in that year at Portland State. He helped the Vikings to a 20-win season and scored a career-high 21 points in a late-season game against Idaho State. His career ended with an 18-point performance in a CIT loss to San Diego.

Edwards finished his career as an afterthought at Gonzaga, though he did see time in a number of NCAA Tournament games. That season at Portland State is the clear highlight; a season in which he was second in the Big Sky in blocks and among the league leaders in offensive rebounds as well. He may not have been a fantastic player on the court, but Edwards was still around for an important part of Gonzaga history during that title game run.
