NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Montana of last decade
By Joey Loose
5. Rollie Worster – Utah State / Utah
Next, we’re looking closely at this 6’3 guard from Missoula who’s only just getting his college career going these past few seasons. Worster arrived on campus at Utah State in 2020, spending his freshman season starting for coach Craig Smith and the Aggies. Worster then followed Smith to Utah, and has been a starting guard in the Pac-12 this past season.
A former star in the Montana high school basketball scene, Worster averaged 9.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game as a freshman with the Aggies. He scored in double figures in seven of his first ten games before becoming more of a ball distributor. He had a 19-point, 9-assist, 9-rebound effort in a win at UNLV. While his stats were slightly less impressive as a sophomore, Worster was still an important piece for the Utes, starting nearly every game on the year.
This young combo guard has already played an important role for Smith across two seasons at two schools. He was one of the highest rated defensive guards in the MWC as a freshman and made his way onto a few Pac-12 leaderboards, accumulating a decent amount of assists and rebounds for a young player. He’ll return for his junior season next year, hoping that Utah can have better success than last year’s 11th place finish in the Pac-12.
