The 2022-23 college basketball season is upon us, and Rhode Island Basketball will be a program to keep tabs on once the ball is tipped on November 7th.

Rhode Island Basketball announced its thirteen-game non-conference schedule this season on Thursday. The slate includes eight games at the Ryan Center, three neutral site games in Cayman Island, and two games on the road.

Rhode Island opens the season with two contests at home on opening week. The Rams will host the Quinnipiac Bobcats on November 7th and the Texas State Bobcats on November 12th. URI will then face the Stony Brook Seawolves when they come to town on November 15th.

Coach Archie Miller and the Rams will then play three games in three days as they will be participating in the Cayman Island Classic from November 21-23. They will open the tournament against the Kansas State Wildcats of the Big 12 conference. The Rams will either face Nevada or Tulane the next day, depending on the first game’s result.

Rhode Island will close out the month of November on the road against Boston College. This will mark the fourth matchup between the Rams and Eagles in three years. Last season, Rhody knocked off Boston College twice within the same week.

The month of December kicks off with back-to-back Ocean State rivalry contests at the Ryan Center for the Rams. URI welcomes the Providence College Friars on December 3rd. The annual rivalry will be renewed for the 132nd time. The Friars are coming off a historic run to the Sweet Sixteen last season. The last time Providence visited Kingston was December 6th, 2019, the Rams were victorious 75-61. The Brown Bears of the Ivy League will be next up for URI as they will make the trip on December 7th.

Following two in-state rivalry contests, Rhody will host the Army Black Knights of the Patriot League on December 10th and the UMass Lowell River Hawks on December 13th.

Rhode Island will then hit the road on December 18th to complete a home-and-home series with the Georgia State Panthers. The Rams defeated the Panthers last season before they went on to receive a bid to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

The Rhode Island Rams will close out their non-conference slate on December 22nd against the Milwaukee Panthers to complete another home-and-home series. Rhody was victorious last season when these two teams met.
