2. Baylor Scheierman – South Dakota State

A 6’6 guard from Aurora, Scheierman has turned himself into quite the college basketball player these last few seasons. He arrived on campus at South Dakota State in 2019, transforming from role player to star over the last three years.

He showed signs of his talent as a freshman before really turning it on as a sophomore, averaging 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, including a 28-point effort in a season-ending loss to Oral Roberts. Scheierman had similar stats as a junior, helping lead the Jackrabbits on a 21-game winning streak, an NCAA Tournament appearance, and a program-record 30 wins. He had 18 points and 10 rebounds in an opening-round loss to Providence in the Big Dance.

Scheierman was named All-Summit League First Team in each of those latter two seasons and was even named Summit Player of the Year as a junior. He led the conference in rebounds and assists per game as well as effective field goal percentage, all while leading the Jackrabbits to one of the finest seasons in program history. After entertaining the draft process, Scheierman announced his return to college and his transfer to Creighton, joining a Bluejays squad that could be among the best in the nation next season.
