NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Nebraska of last decade
By Joey Loose
10. Mitchell Hahn – Holy Cross / Omaha
Our first focus is on a 6’8 forward from Fremont who made a considerable impact when he found the right fit. Hahn made his way to the east coast to attend Holy Cross but opted to transfer after his first season. Sitting out the next season, he was a solid contributor at Omaha between 2016 and 2019, including as a full-time starting forward in those final two years.
Hahn had a couple of breakout performances at Holy Cross, including a 22-point effort against Albany, but didn’t see the court much before his transfer. He became a key bench piece as a sophomore as the Mavericks finished third in the Summit League. He actually averaged at least 11 points per game in each of his three years at Omaha, punctuated by his senior season. Not only did he average 13.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, including a career-high 35 points at Oral Roberts, but Hahn helped lead the team to a 2nd place finish and a conference title game loss.
His junior year was shortened by injury, but he certainly made up for it as a senior and was named to the All-Summit League First Team and All-Tournament Team as well. He ranked in the top 10 in the conference in points and rebounds and was an important piece for Omaha’s best season since joining D1. He found his place to become a featured athlete and lead the Mavericks to some pretty great success.
