8. Tre’Shawn Thurman – Omaha / Nevada

Thurman didn’t have far to go to begin his collegiate career. The 6’7 forward originally from Omaha stayed right there in town, starting his career for the Mavericks in the Summit League. After three seasons there, he transferred, spending his final collegiate season at Nevada under Eric Musselman on a pretty impressive Wolf Pack team.

Thurman started nearly all of the games during his three seasons at Omaha, averaging no less than 13 points a game during his sophomore and junior years. The Mavericks won 18 games in both of those seasons, making their first real strides since joining D1. As a sophomore, he had a career-high 30 points in a win over UMKC. That senior season at Nevada saw him average 8.2 points per game on a very talented Wolf Pack squad that won 29 games and finished in the AP Top 25.

He was an important piece during his time with the Mavericks, putting up considerable rebound numbers during those three seasons. He was just as effective on a much better Nevada squad. Even if his stats were less impressive in that senior season, he was a full-time starter on a 29-win team that took the MWC regular season crown and were extremely impressive. Thurman certainly was an important piece for all four years of his college career.
