9. Marcus Allen – Stanford

Next up is a 6’3 guard from Las Vegas who was a fringe top 100 prospect from the class of 2013. Allen found his way to Stanford, playing the next four years under Johnny Dawkins and briefly under Jerod Haase. Allen was spent most of his final three years as the Cardinal’s starting shooting guard, but certainly grew impressively as a defensive player as well.

After a very limited impact as a freshman, he started getting starts and more minutes as a sophomore, including a 22-point performance over UC Davis during Stanford’s run to the NIT title. During his junior year, he averaged 11.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in his best offensive season. Under the new coach for his final season, his offensive numbers were less impressive but he was still a very solid piece on both sides of the ball for the Cardinal.

He was named to the Pac-12 All-Defense team as a senior, the cherry on top of a successful career all over the court for Allen. He certainly wasn’t a star or household name, and Stanford didn’t exactly have their best success in his later seasons, but Allen worked hard and put up some solid numbers especially on the defensive side.
