NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of New Hampshire of last decade
By Joey Loose
8. Kaleb Joseph – Syracuse / Creighton
A borderline top 50 recruit, Joseph is a 6’3 guard originally from Nashua. The four-star guard made his way to Syracuse to play under Jim Boeheim, but spent just two years with the Orange, after falling out of the rotation as a sophomore. Joseph played his last two years of eligibility in the Big East at Creighton. Among his four years of college ball, his freshman year was by far his most productive.
As a freshman, Joseph started 30 games and averaged 5.9 points and 3.8 assists a game for the Orange, including a double-double in a loss at Villanova. Bypassed on the depth chart and in the rotation, Joseph barely played as a sophomore, only scoring in three different games and not playing at all during the Syracuse run to the Final Four. At Creighton, he was little more than a role player, though he did score a career-high 16 points in a late-season win over Georgetown. He finally had more minutes as a senior but never developing into the consistent guard that either school expected.
It wasn’t all bad for Joseph, who showed signs of brilliance even if he could never quite be that consistent point guard. He had decent assist numbers when the opportunities provided, especially as a freshman, and did enough to end up on today’s list in a somewhat underwhelming career. Joseph continued playing basketball overseas, spending a few seasons over in Europe, most recently in Czechia.
