UConn Huskies

The Huskies are already fairly set at the center position, with All-Big East big man Adama Sanogo returning for his junior season. He’s not a surefire NBA Draft prospect so it’s not a guarantee he leaves after next year. Making matters more complicated is that the team already has top-50 incoming freshman Donovan Clingan on the roster as well as he’s expected to take over once Sanogo is gone.

Miranda and Clingan are on the same level and both are natural centers so trying to put them on the court together would be a potential issue. It makes sense that UConn is in the running since they’re the top program in the Northeast area but unless they’re not sold on Clingan, I doubt they’ll be a top finalist for this prospect.

Georgetown Hoyas

The Hoyas had former top-50 recruit Ryan Mutombo part of the frontcourt rotation last season, with Timothy Ighoefe and Malcolm Wilson sharing the starts at center. The team brought back a familiar face in Qudus Wahab, who’ll be around for 1-2 more seasons at the most. The team could certainly use a center in the next class, one that could potentially play lots of minutes as a freshman.

Head coach Patrick Ewing has a history of good development with big men, with Wahab and Omer Yurtseven a couple of years ago as key examples. But after going winless in all of Big East play last season, his job has to be on the hot seat. Will he make a decision to pick Georgetown without knowing the status of the head coach recruiting him?
